Built by Clinicians. Designed for Real Life.

Founded by Naturopathic Doctors Who Saw the Gap Firsthand

Framework Nutrition was founded by naturopathic doctors with years of clinical experience across a wide range of health concerns, from hormonal imbalances and digestive concerns to cardiovascular health and chronic disease. Our education in healthcare, combined with the day-to-day reality of clinical practice, has shaped how this tool was built.

Why We Built This

In our combined years of seeing patients, one pattern kept emerging: nutrition is one of the most powerful tools for improving health, and consistently one of the hardest strategies for our patients to implement long-term.

We can tell a patient what to eat. We can explain why it matters. What we cannot do is sit down and build them a meal plan, time after time, that fits their health goals, their life, and their schedule. Creating truly individualized meal plans is time-intensive work, and that reality makes it financially out of reach for most patients. Some people do well with general dietary guidance, but many of our patients need something more concrete: a specific, structured plan built around their health goals that is exciting enough to follow.

This isn't just a challenge in our own practice. It's a conversation we have regularly with colleagues and allied health providers across disciplines. There isn't enough time in our busy clinic schedules to create meal plans that are creative, consistent, and clinically accurate.

We built this because we kept seeing the same need, in our own practice and across our colleagues', to provide individualized nutrition without the barrier of accessibility.

More Than a Meal Plan

There is no shortage of meal planning tools out there. What sets this apart is the clinical foundation underneath it.

This isn't a generic calorie counter or a one-size-fits-all recipe database. Each plan accounts for individualized caloric and macronutrient needs and, where the evidence supports it, incorporates specific ingredients known to benefit particular health concerns. Every plan reflects guidelines we developed, refined, and reviewed ourselves. When you follow a plan from this tool, you're following something built and vetted by practitioners who understand not just macronutrients, but the relationship between food and long-term health.

Framework Nutrition founders collaborating over meal-planning workflows

The goal was never to replace clinical judgment. It was to solve the part we could never solve in the clinic: implementation.

Where Expertise Meets Technology

We recognized that our clinical experience and training, combined with modern technology, could work together in a way that wasn't previously possible.

We started with a foundation large language model and specialized it for clinical nutrition by fine-tuning it on our own data, encoding condition-specific guidelines and adjunctive nutrition strategies directly into its framework, and feeding successful and rejected meals back into the system so it learns from every review cycle. The result is a purpose-built tool that doesn't just generate recipes. It generates meals shaped by the same clinical thinking we apply in practice.

This wasn't about handing the work off to a generic AI model. It was about building something that carries our knowledge as healthcare professionals into every meal it produces.

When you receive one of our meal plans, the caloric values, macronutrient ratios, and health-specific recommendations aren't random "healthy" choices. Every element is there by design, built on a framework that reflects current nutritional research and medical guidelines.

Our bespoke AI helps design your meals, but it doesn't touch the math. Every calorie, every macro, every micronutrient is calculated using verified USDA nutritional data, ingredient by ingredient. Nothing is estimated or approximated. After every meal plan is generated, we review it ourselves to ensure it meets our specified quality guidelines.

Your privacy is built into the way this platform works. The health details you provide are used internally to calculate your nutritional targets, so what gets sent to the large language model is only those calculated totals alongside our guidelines. Your identity never enters the system.

The result is something we're confident recommending to our own patients, and something we use ourselves.

When I was a teenager, my parents uprooted our family of six from small town Canada to Tokyo, Japan. It's the best thing that ever happened to my relationship with food. Experiencing a culture where food is both nourishing and intentional, never an afterthought, showed me early on how daily choices quietly shape long-term health.

That curiosity deepened when I saw a naturopath for the first time. Hormonal health issues I'd struggled with for years finally resolved. I wanted to understand how, and I wanted to be able to do that for others. That sent me to the University of Toronto for a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences and Human Biology, and then on to a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine. I've been practicing as an ND since 2021.

Nutrition remains one of the most powerful tools I have for my patients and one of the most frustrating. The noise around diet on social media is relentless, and I completely understand why people feel overwhelmed before they've even started. My co-founder and fellow ND Dr. Ayla and I had spent years talking about exactly that problem. When we saw what AI was becoming capable of, we knew we had a real opportunity to build something grounded in actual research, shaped by everything our patients had told us over the years about where healthy eating falls apart in real life.

When I'm not working, you can usually find me hiking, cross-country skiing, or knitting something cozy.

I didn't set out to build a nutrition platform. I set out to eat well on a Tuesday.

Like most of my patients, I know what it's like to stare down a week of back-to-back appointments, a full inbox, and a fridge full of good intentions. Nutrition advice is easy to give. Actually executing it, consistently, without burning out, is a different problem entirely. That gap is what Framework is trying to close.

I'm a naturopathic doctor with a background in anatomy and cell biology, and I've been practicing since opening Oak Clinic in Dawson Creek, BC in 2018. But some of my most formative health education happened outside the clinic, first when I was diagnosed with PCOS during my undergrad, and more recently navigating a Lyme disease diagnosis that quietly reshaped how I think about energy, capacity, and what "healthy" actually has to look like on hard days.

Over the years, I've had a front-row seat to how technology gets built. My partner is a serial tech founder, and those conversations changed how I see what's possible. When AI started maturing in ways that could genuinely serve clinical work, I knew it was time to stop watching and start building.

Framework is the intersection of everything I care about: good food that's actually doable, tools that meet people where they are, and care that's grounded in real clinical thinking.

When I'm not in the clinic or deep in a product sprint, I'm out walking with our two very opinionated dogs, in the pool with my co-founder and dear friend Dr. Elena Moore ND, or doing something with my hands, usually tending to whatever I'm growing or making something out of fibre.
